Mari Boine acted like a bird of passage and went to South-Africa to record the CD «Cuovgga Airras/Sterna Paradisea». This forms also the musical face, that besides the permanent musicians is characterized by a local choir and Langa-queen Madosini.

Most of what Boine ha done on the CD is a result of the culture where she stayed and was formed in and raw courage. What characterizes the record firstly, is the tension that arises when the Nordic is infiltrated with South-African energy. The Arctic and the Sami find common denominators in the warm and pulsating and we observe a conciliation in the music that is seldom there, even for Boine, on the understanding that multiple compositions border on the fascinating magic of quality pop. That gives variation, at the same time the character of the music is of an impressive wholeness. In what almost becomes a «Graceland»-jubilation, «Claudiinna Lįvlla», the South-African men choir emerges, with a force that raises Boine's music to new levels. This is the introduction to «Skealmba», the powerful pivot of the CD with the voice of Madosini.

Moreover Boine gets musical and textual energy from other genres and countries that engage her. This gives an optimistic, boundless glow and lightness, also in the melancholic, wandering songs, that make the CD easy accessible, but never in violation of Boine's serious conciliation to her musical and literary art sense.
