New CD, release August 24 2009
New album “Sterna Paradisea” out august 24th on Universal Music.
Mari Boine is currently completing the work on the follow up to her extraordinary In The Hand Of The Night / Idjagieas album (2006). Instantly recognisable for her uniquely emotive voice, Boine conjures up images of the landscape of Northern Norway and the Arctic Circle, a magical world of brilliant snow, winter darkness and remote empty wilderness. While her music remains rooted in the Sami traditions amongst which she grew up, Boine has invited a crack team of Norwegian and African artists to work on the new album, Sterna Paradisea / Saivo Nasti.
